Wanna get in on a fun project?
We want to move a barn

Sun River Valley Historical Society

We have been given a barn in Sun River, Montana.  We intend to move it to the Fort Shaw National Historic Site.  We have a foundation for it already constructed on site, and need to get to get the barn to it.

It’s 24 wide and 28 feet long. There’s a loft above the lower bay.
We are interested in splitting it at the upper bay floor and lifting the upper section off. We could move it to the fort on a flatbed.

We will probably need to move the lower bay logs one at a time; I doubt we could get them to hang together enough to be moved as an assembly. Then they can be reassembled on the foundation at the Fort.

What We Need

We are in need of a professional contractor with equipment to lift the upper floor and place it on a flatbed, to move it to the Fort, then lift the upper floor and set it on the lower bay.
We have received funding to cover professional assistance with this project.
We would prefer a contractor who has experience with moving structures of this type. We certainly need one with professional certification and bonding to cover the move, six miles of which will be on a state highway.

The Military Cemetery will be available for viewing at any time. The American Legion will welcome you to a flag ceremony to honor our fallen military on Memorial Day morning.

And if John or Burnette are working in the area, you can most likely talk them into a tour of your very own!
